Welcome to my Web site!

I've been teaching in the Rio Grande Valley since 1993,  coming to the Valley after 4 years of teaching in Europe and Africa.  Prior to my teaching posts overseas, I began my teaching career near Washington D.C.   I encourage all my students to do their very best, to always push their limits but do so with a solid foundation.  Good luck to the class of 2008 and to all other Med High cohorts.

Course Summary for preAP Biology and Biology I

This course surveys the principles of general biology and related disciplines. Biology I is approached thematically, with an emphasis on molecular and cellular biology in the first half of the course, and organismal biology in the second half. This approach was selected due to the health professions mission of our campus. Heavy emphasis will be placed on the development of critical thinking skills, experimental design, use of equipment, and laboratory technique. Special focus on increasing student understanding of the principles of heredity, biological change over time, and patterns of living systems will be addressed.

Course Summary

Advanced Placement Environmental Science 2007 - 2008

AP Enviromental Science is designed to be the equivalent of a one semester introductory course to Environmental Science but will be taught throughout the whole school year.  Students will find the course very useful in obtaining lab science college credit as Environmental Science is offered by not only university biology departments, but also by health science, chemistry, and geology departments.  The course is truly interdisciplinary when one recognizes its element in many political science, economics, and city planning undergraduate courses.
