Purpose: The purpose of this
course is to help Med High students become more competitive in the college
admissions process by raising their SAT scores.
Through this course this institution will increase the number of its
students taking the test, which would enable them to qualify for National Merit
and other academic scholarships awarded on the basis of SAT and PSAT scores.
Objective: The objective
of this course is to enable students to achieve success through nine weeks of
intense verbal instruction and nine weeks of mathematics instruction.
In those classes, through use of Test-Taking Strategies, Language skills,
Vocabulary building, Math and Reasoning, and Writing Skills students will
receive the tools necessary to improve test scores.
Class Rules:

Assignments: 1.
Homework: May include the following: note cards, class
notes, essays, assignments and quizzes.

Quizzes: both announced and
unannounced. These quizzes are also
a means to evaluate homework and class work compliance.
3.
Tests: Teacher reserves the right to include
other announced exams throughout the semester.

All work is due at the beginning of class on
the assigned date. If you are absent, work is due on the day of your
return. All makeup work is due on the day of your return. All makeup work
will be completed during tutorial. Tests and quizzes must be made up
within two days.
Late work will be accepted as follows:
same day 10% penalty, one day 20% penalty, two days late 30% penalty.
Don't let it go beyond this point if you want to pass.
Retesting procedures:
1. You must
attend tutorial.
2. Retest must occur within two weeks.
3. No grade higher than a 70 will be given.
4. Quizzes, six weeks exam, and finals are excluded.
Needed supplies: Textbook, 3
ring binder (1-inch), 200 3x 5 index cards, loose-leaf paper, dividers, pencils
and black pens.
Please note that the grade earned through this course will be posted on the student’s transcript and that the grade will be applied to the GPA and class ranking system.
